From The Irwin Index newspaper, Saturday 13 April 1929:
"The sympathy of her friends is extended to Mrs. E. Franklin, of Three Springs, who recently suffered bereavement by the death of her mother, Mrs. Victoria Mary Bone, of Bootenal. The deceased lady who was widely known and greatly respected had been a resident of the Geraldton district for 72 years, and was 89 years of age at the time of her death, which occurred at the Geraldton Hospital on April 3. She had been twice married and had brought up a large family. The funeral took place in the Roman Catholic cemetery at Bootenal, on April 4. So far as can be ascertained Mrs. Bone was the sole survivor of the company on board the ship which brought her to this State."
