Death of Mr S. F. Moore
"The death occurred early yesterday morning at his residence, Cliff House, Bindaring-parade, Claremont. of Mr Samuel Fortescue Moore, an old and highly esteemed colonist, who over a long period was closely identified with the public and commercial life of the State. Mr Moore was the son of the late Mr Samuel Moore, who came to Western Australia in 1832 and settled at Oakover, on the Middle Swan. He was born in 1846, and was educated at Bishop's College, Perth, where he was a schoolfellow of the late Lord Forrest, the late Mr Sept. Burt, and other well known Western Australians. On leaving school he entered the public service, retiring in 1863, when he went to Queensland and assisted in the first survey for assessment purposes of the famous Darling Downs of that State. In 1867 he returned to Western Australia, and entered upon commercial and pastoral pursuits on the Irwin River, at Dongara. In 1901 he retired from active business life, and took up his residence at Claremont. In 1881 Mr Moore was offered a seat in the Legislative Council, which he refused. Twenty years later he entered the Legislative Assembly as member for Irwin, and retained the seat until the general election of 1914, when he was defeated by Mr James Gardiner. For many years he was a director of the Western Australian Bank, and retired from the position only a few months ago on account of failing health. He was also at one time president ., the Pastoralists Association, and at the time of his death was senior Justice of the Peace for Western Australia. He took an active interest in the Church of England, and for many years was a member of inc Anglican Synod, representing the Dongara parish. He leaves a widow, two sons and six married daughters. One of his sons was, killed on Gallipoi. The funeral will take place this morning."

Funeral of the Late Mr S. F. Moore
"The funeral of the late Mr Samuel Fortescue Moore, whose death occurred at his late residence, Cliff House, Bindaring-parade, Claremont, on Monday morning, took place in the Anglican portion of the Karrakatta Cemetery yesterday. Archbishop Riley conducted the service at the graveside, and his Grace was attended by his domestic chaplain (the Rev. C. L. Riley), and assisted by the Rev. Cannon W. J. McClemans. The chief mourners were - Messrs Irwin S. and Douglas Glynn Moore (sons), William D., G. Frederick, and A. W. Moore (nephews), Reginald S. Forbes, Keane Bolton, Arthur H. L. Savage, Norman Temperie, and Robert E. Rutherford (sons-in-law), and Reginald D. O. Forbes (grandson). The pall-bearers were Dr. Gillespie, Messrs J. J. Higham, Ernest Lee Steere, Robert Fairburn, George Rose, H. D. Holmes, Neil McNeil, and Frank Wittenoom, and the following were among those present: The Premier (Mr J. Mitchell), the Minister for Education (Mr H. P. Colebatch), the Minister for Agriculture (Mr H. K. Maley), the Minister for Railways (Mr J. Scaddan), Messrs W. Padbury, A. Gorne, J. McFarlane, S. K. Chipper and W. J. Ashton (representing the Royal Agricultural Society), Lloyd Herbert (general manager West Australian Bank), H. W. Rinchbieth, F. W. Barrymore, J. MacCallum Smith, M.L.A., J. W. Leveaux, E. W. Terry, L. H. Davies, C. Wittenoom, Lee Alnutt, H. Ashton, G. Hickling, F. Clifton, F. B. Trude, G. Sholl, F. Leake, J. L. B. Weir, A. N. Lord, Sept. Pearse, A. E. and O. Burt, R. C.
