Married John BOWMAN on 28 September 1899 at Saint Giles in Edinburgh, Scotland [28]
Resided for a number of years in Auchterderran, Fife, Scotland where her husband was the manager of Bowhill Colliery [P1]
Along with her children remained in Scotland while her husband was manager of the coal mines on Labuan Island [P1]
On his return to Scotland they resided at Rosefield House on Gardenside Avenue, Uddingston in Bothwell, Lanark, Scotland [P1]
While living at Rosefield gave birth to a fourth daughter, "Bunty" Jane Craig BOWMAN, who died 5 July 1913, aged 18 months [28]
They left Scotland in 1915 after her husband made plans to purchase a Ready-Made Farm in Carnamah, Western Australia [P1]
     Along with her husband and their three surviving daughters departed London, England on the steamship Osterley in 1915 [P1]
     The family's domestic employee of many years, "Belle" Isabella M. EASTON, accompanied the family at her own request [P1]
     Also on board the Osterley were the ROBERTSON and FORRESTER families who had also made plans to settle in Carnamah [P1]
     She later told her youngest daughter that she was highly concerned about travelling during the First World War [P9]
     After a voyage of approximately one month they arrived on the Osterley in Fremantle, Western Australia on 11 May 1915 [P1]
Shortly after arrival they travelled to Carnamah by train, in company with Isabella M. EASTON and the FORRESTER family [P1]
     They arrived in Carnamah at about midnight and were met by a man in a cart to take to their farm four miles from town [P1]
     Herself, young daughter Daisy and Mrs Effie FORRESTER travelled in the cart while the others walked behind to the farm [P1]
Resided on The Home Farm on the Carnamah-Perenjori Road in Carnamah from 1915 until 1952 [P9]
     Water was initially scarce and had to be carted, and in later years their domestic water consisted solely of rainwater [P9]
     She was always the first to tell if something had fallen in and died in the rainwater tank, which meant it had to be drained [P9]
Signed the petition in February 1923 for the Irwin Licensing Court to grant a hotel license for Carnamah [10: 9-Mar-1923]

Obituary - Late Mrs. Margaret Bowman - Funeral at Winchester

"Following a somewhat lengthy period of indifferent health, the death occurred on Tuesday last at the home of her daughter (Mrs. V. Johnson) at Double View of yet another old and highly respected identity of Carnamah in the person of Mrs. Margaret Swan Bowman at the age of seventy-seven years. The deceased lady, who was born at Fifeshire (Scotland), arrived at Carnamah in company with her husband in the very early years of land settlement in the North Midlands, and it is only since the passing of the late Mr. John Bowman about two-and-a-half years ago that she has resided with her daughter in the metropolitan area. The late Mrs. Bowman, whose funeral took place in the Winchester Cemetery on Wednesday last, is survived by five daughters in Mesdames J. Dixon (Bindoon), V. Johnson (Double View), P. Thomson (Marchagee), D. Johnson (Carnamah) and Miss Margaret (Daisy) Bowman (Mt. Lawley), and also one son in Mr. D. Bowman, of Carnamah. At the cemetery the service was conducted in the presence of quite a large assemblage of relatives and friends by Rev. J. R. Albany, of Morawa, the casket being borne from the hearse to the graveside by Messrs. A. Forrester, C. Robertson, L. W. Grierson and R. Niven, and the pall-bearers were Messrs. C. Chapman, R. W. Clark, R. Diamond and E. K. Wells."
