Son of George Henry FOWLER and Edith Jane COMPTON [15]
His grandparents had been invited to the ceremonies for the visit of The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and York in July 1901 [P23]
Grew up on his father's dairy farm and orchard one mile from Lowden [P23]
Educated at the Preston State School, which involved a daily walk of 1½ miles [P23]
In the 1910s his brother G. C. Cecil C. FOWLER and cousin A. R. Eric RUSSELL both farmed in Perenjori [19] [50] [61]
His brother Cecil served with the Australian Imperial Force in the First World War and was killed at Gallipoli in 1915 [30: item 4019435]
After finishing his schooling he left Lowden and shifted to Fremantle where he worked at the Elders Goldsborough Wool Store [P23]
Purchased 1,600 acres in Winchester in partnership with his brother-in-law Harold V. MOSEDALE on 30 August 1924 [27]
The 1,600 acres was the virgin bush Lot M1214 of Victoria Location 1938 on the north side of the Winchester East Road [27] [62]
They purchased the land from the Midland Railway Company for £1200/7/6 (15/- per acre), payable by instalments [27]
Farmer of Fairview Farm in Winchester, South Carnamah 1924-1957 [P23]
Initially resided on Fairview in a tent and lived off the land by shooting wild turkeys, kangaroos, rabbits and parrots [P23]
Cleared the farm, which on purchase was virgin bush, with a scrub-roller and an axe [7: page 61]

In November 1929 they purchased a Chev six truck from Carnamah dealer L. Scott WYLIE [4: 23-Nov-1929]
In 1932 their Chevrolet truck contained license plate CA-40[4: 12-Nov-1932]
They won 1st prize for Merredin Wheat at the Carnamah District Agricultural Society's Annual Show in 1932 [5: 23-Sep-1932]
With a plot of Merredin wheat came 7th in the Carnamah District Agricultural Society's 1932 50 acre crop competition [5: 20-Jan-1933]
In April 1935 they purchased a new McCormick-Deering T 20 caterpillar tractor from local agent W. G. MULLIGAN [5: 26-Apr-1935]
On purchasing the new tractor they sold their old 15-30 McCormick tractor to a farmer in Bowgada near Perenjori [5: 26-Apr-1935]
A field demonstration of their new tractor was held on their Winchester farm on Thursday afternoon 4 July 1935 [5: 28-Jun-1935]
In July 1935 they purchased a new 14 disc Sundercut from the Sunshine Agency in Carnamah [5: 2-Aug-1935]
Sold 146 sheep through Elder Smith & Co Ltd with two consignments to the Midland Market in November 1935 [5: 1 & 15-Nov-1935]
The 146 sheep consisted of 90 shorn suckers (50 at 15/4, 40 at 12/1) and 56 shorn lambs (31 at 13/7, 25 at 10/7 per head) [5]
They sold 5 bales of wool at 17d. per pound through Elder Smith & Co Ltd at the Perth Wool Sale on 9 March 1936 [5: 13-Mar-1936]
Sold 120 lambs through Elder Smith & Co Ltd at the Midland Market in 1936- 40 lambs on 15 April and 80 on 4 November [5]
Sold the 40 lambs at 10/- per head while the 80 comprised of 21 at 9/7, 45 at 8/7, 4 at 10/-, 10 at 8/10)[5: 17-Apr-1936, 6-Nov-1936]
They sold 37 lambs (13 at 23/7, 24 at 20/1) and 1 ewe at 15/- through Elder Smith & Co Ltd on 7 July 1937 [5: 9-Jul-1937]
After extending the instalments for the farm by two years they completed paying its instalments in 1941 [27]
The last lot of rates for the farm in the name of "Mosedale & Fowler" were for the 1947-48 financial year [3]
From 1948-49 onwards rates were solely in his name, and then from 1962-63 onwards they were in the name of his son George [3]
