From The North Midland Times newspaper, Friday 1 June 1945:
Obituary - Late Mr. E. Hellewell
It was with a feeling of profound regret that residents of the Carnamah districts learned on Wednesday that Mr. E. Hellewell had passed away in Perth. The deceased gentleman was, until a few years ago, a resident of the Carnamah District, and during his sojourn among us he endeared himself to all with whom he came in contact. "Pop," as he was affectionately termed by all and sundry, was a familiar figure at any district gathering, and in a quiet unobtrusive way, he was always willing to do his bit to help along any district activity. Some two years or so ago, failing health brought about his retirement from active employment, and since then he had resided in the Victoria Park district. Every sympathy is felt for his widow and family of two sons and two daughters."
