They departed London, England on the steamship Bendigo and arrived in Fremantle, Western Australia on 2 October 1923 [70]
When just out from Fremantle her mother gave birth to a daughter, who was named Bella Bendigo CANDY after the ship [P361]
She was the eldest of nine children, with siblings Arthur, Christopher, Leslie, Gerald, Marjorie, Barbara, Bella and Reginald [P361]
Resided with her parents and siblings on Group Settlement 79 in Manjimup in 1924[6] [50] and later in Narembeen [P361]
While working as a Housemaid for a family in Narembeen she met Bill JOHNS [P361]
Married "Bill" William Henry JOHNS in Perth on 22 March 1927 [P361]
Following their wedding they proceeded straight to Coorow where her husband had secured a job as a farmhand [P361]
They resided on Reginald CROMMELIN's Mornington Farm in Coorow 1927-1932 and then in the Coorow townsite [P361]
After shifting into town they lived in a tent near the Coorow Oval while a small house was built on land bounding Main Street [P361]
They resided in this house until 1953 when a new house was built on the same block but facing onto Main Street [P361]
She worked long hours caring for her family, establishing a local milk round and selling eggs [P361]
Early each morning her children had to go out and get in her cows [P361]
Having been a Girl Guide in England she was instrumental in getting Girl Guides established in Coorow [P361]
After her children had grown up she was a member of the Coorow Bowling Club and its Champion one year [P361]
She and her husband almost reached their 70th Wedding Anniversary, had 34 grandchildren and 53 great grandchildren [P361]
During their lifetime they also saw their fifth generation of descendants [P361]
Resided in Coorow until her death in 1997 [2]
Passed away at the age of 89 years at the Glengarry Private Hospital in the Perth suburb of Duncraig [P361]
