     When their son Cyril was born they were based in Trinidad, West Indies [20]
     Their daughter Elene Mary was baptised at the Old Mission Church at Fort William in Hastings, Calcutta in 1892 [272]
He was a Master Mariner in Calcutta, Bengal, India in 1892 [272]
In 1901 his wife and two children were living at 31 New Clive Road in Lambeth, London, England [20]
His wife passed away in London, England at the age of 43 years in 1905 [21]
Farmer of Sandringham Farm in Coorow, Western Australia 1913-1924 [27] [61]
     He purchased his 471 acre of farm in Coorow from the Midland Railway Company of Western Australia on 24 April 1913 [27]
     The 471 acre farm was Lot M965 of Victoria Location 2023 and cost £1,648 payable by instalments [27]
     The farm was one of the Midland Railway Company's Ready-Made Farms and came with a house, partly cleared and fenced [34]
In March 1915 applied unsuccessfully with the Midland Railway Company to purchase an additional 280 acres at 7/- to 8/- per acre [34]
Harvested 1,041 bags of wheat from his 1915 wheat crop, 50 bags of which he kept for seed wheat [34]
His son Cyril, who worked as a Commercial Clerk in England, enlisted to serve during the First World War [20] [378] [403] [474]
    Cyril was 2nd Lieutenant in the 25th Battalion of the Manchester Regiment and was killed in France on 10 May 1916 [378] [474]
He had 230 acres of crop on his farm in 1916 [34] and 200 acres of wheat crop in 1917 [10: 19-Jun-1917]
In August 1916 signed a petition which was sent to the Midland Railway Company requesting the price of their farms be reduced [34]

Advertised in March 1917 that a brown mare branded 6PO was in his paddock and if not claimed it would be sold [39: 19-Mar-1917]
In June 1917 was absent from his farm and was engaged in mine sweeping [34]
In addition to the house on his farm he also rented one on Rabbi RABINOWITZ's farm in Coorow at 5/- per week in 1917 [34]
Signed the petition and financial guarantee in 1917 for the Midland Railway Company to provide a resident doctor at Three Springs [34]
Member of the Midland Railway Ready-Made Farm Settlers' Association in 1918 [34]
     Part of a deputation that met with the Midland Railway Company on 3 April 1918 to request the company lower their prices [34]
     He stated that it was impossible to make ends meet with the present price of the land and subsequent instalments [34]
     He also claimed that the company had charged 1st class price for patches of 2nd and 3rd class land [34]
     In 1920 the Midland Railway Company finally lowered their prices and the price of his farm dropped from £1,648 to £989 [27]
Inaugural Director for Coorow of the North Midlands Farmers' Co-operative Company in 1919 [9: 27-Jun-1919]
Sang a song at the Welcome Home tendered to A.I.F. Private James FARLEY in Coorow on Thursday 10 July 1919 [10: 18-Jul-1919]
On 11 May 1920 extended his farm with the purchase from the Midland Railway Company of an adjoining 188 acres of virgin land [27]
     The 188 acres was a portion of Lot M1233 of Victoria Location 2023 and cost £75.8.5, payable by instalments over 15 years [27]
     Purchased another 532 acres of virgin land for £292.19.9 (the remaining portion of Lot M1233) on 1 March 1923 [27]
He attended the Coorow State School's Concert held at Coorow House on Wednesday 3 June 1920 [9: 11-Jun-1920]
    At the end of the event he spoke of the way the school's teacher had brought the children along in the school work [9: 11-Jun-1920]
In 1924 grazed livestock on an additional 2,500 acres of land in Coorow which he leased from the Midland Railway Company [34]
Sold his partially paid off 1,191 acre farm in Coorow to George HUTCHCRAFT on 28 August 1924 [27]
After selling his farm he shifted to Perth and worked at Warehouseman, living briefly at 1134 Hay Street in Perth [50]
He resided at 48 Portland Street in the Perth suburb of Nedlands from 1925 until the 1940s [50]
In 1936 was a pallbearer at the funeral of Capt. Alexander M. DICKSON, also of Nedlands and previously of India [39: 26 & 29-Sep-1936]
Towards the end of his life he appears to have lived with Daisy and Dan FARLEY at 35 Martin Avenue in Nedlands [39: 22-Jun-1945] [50]
     His sole death notice in The West Australian newspaper described him as the "sincere friend of Mr and Mrs Dan Farley" [39]
     Dan was the son of Capt. Philip FARLEY who'd also spent time in India and also purchased a Ready-Made Farm at Coorow [34]
Father of Cyril Thornton [403] and Elene Mary [272]
Died 21 June 1945; buried at Karrakatta Cemetery in Perth, Western Australia (Anglican, OA, 561) [2]
At the time of his death his daughter was known as "Babs" or Mrs FROST and was living in England [39: 22-Jun-1945]
