From The Geraldton Guardian newspaper, Thursday 20 March 1919:
Thrown From a Pony - Young Girl's Tragic Death
"A young girl named Amy Dolores Thomas the fourteen year old daughter of Mr. C. Thomas, farmer Three Springs, died in the Rosella Hospital this morning as the result of a riding accident. The girl had gone out yesterday on her pony on a message, and a little while later she was found by the butcher lying on the side of the road, having evidently been thrown from her pony. She was unconscious, and evidently seriously hurt. It was decided to bring her into Geraldton for treatment, and she was still unconscious last night when she was admitted to the Rosella Hospital, and she passed away at half past eleven o'clock this morning without ever properly regaining consciousness. Deceased was the niece of Mrs. W. Bennett, Eleanor St. The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon at the Roman Catholic Cemetery."

From The Geraldton Express newspaper, Friday 21 March 1919:
"A very sad accident occurred at Three Springs, Midland Line on Wednesday last, whereby Amy Dolores sixth daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Charles Thomas came to her death.  The little girl (who was affectionately known as "Billy") was sent to bring in some horses riding a quiet pony.  Some time subsequently she was found lying injured and unconscious some distance from the homestead. Amy in common with the rest of the children, was a good and fearless rider and her horse must have stumbled throwing her off, and probably dragging the poor child for some distance.  The sufferer was taken to Geraldton by the night train and brought to the residence of her aunt Mrs. W. Bennett being placed in the Rosella Hospital early yesterday morning, where she succumbed to her injuries after some hours, having never recovered complete consciousness.  Little Amy was a fine intelligent lass and a splendid example of what a useful, healthy, well trained Australian country girl should be. This papers best sympathies go out to the bereaved family in their great loss. The remains of this well-loved little girl who was barely 14 years old was interred in the Roman Catholic Cemetery this afternoon. The sorrow stricken parents, with the victim's brother, and Mrs. Booth, her eldest sister are in town."
