The hotel was to be situated within premises in Winchester to be built and rented from his brother-in-law James L. B. WEIR [39]
His request went before the Licensing Court in Moora in September 1913 who declared "a hotel was not necessary there" [39]
The court also concluded "it would be a long time before any licence was granted there" [39: 18-Aug-1913, 9-Sep-1913]
Resided at Emerald Hill in the Perth suburb of Subiaco in 1914 [6]

His wife Sarah passed away at the age of 58 years on 29 September 1937 and was buried at the Karrakatta Cemetery in Perth [2]
