"When a rowing boat capsized on the Swan River on Wednesday afternoon Donald Mettam (11) had a narrow escape from drowning and was eventually helped to shore by two young girls. Three other lads who were in the boat, including Robin Mettam (17) were presumably drowned and up until an early hour on Thursday morning their bodies had not been recovered. Donald and Robin Mettam were the sons of Mr. and Mrs. C. Mettam who resided in Carnamah a few years ago."
