Robert CARSTAIRS

Born 29 December 1869 in Crail, Fife, Scotland ^[28]
Son of farmer John CARSTAIRS and Christina Simpson GRIEVE ^[28]
He was the only son of six children, with an elder sister Ann and younger sisters Isabella, Caroline, Margaret and Jessie ^[20]
In 1881 and 1891 he was living with his parents and sisters on Bunbrae Farm in Crail, Fife, Scotland
Married English born Annie TAIT on 7 October 1898 in Crail, Fife, Scotland ^{[20] [28]}
In 1901 he was a Joint Farmer of South Callange Farm in Ceres, Fife, Scotland ^[20]
Traction Engine Driver on Balchrystie Farm in Kilconquhar, Fife, Scotland in 1921 ^[20]
Along with his wife Annie departed London, England on the steamship Barrabool on 20 December 1924 ^[203]
After a voyage of a month and ten days they arrived on the Barrabool in Fremantle, Western Australia on 30 January 1925 ^[70]
Upon leaving he gave his occupation as "Farming" ^[203] and when he arrived he gave his address as Carnamah, Western Australia ^[70]
His sons John and James were farming in Carnamah, having taken up land from the Midland Railway Company ^{[19] [27]}
Within four months of their arrival he and his wife had left Carnamah and were living in Perenjori ^{[39: 22-Apr-1925]}
Later resided in the Perth suburb of Melville ^[2]
His wife passed away aged 72 in 1941 and he collapsed and died on a bus the following year ^{[39: 18-Aug-1941] [225: 25-Oct-1942]}

Died 24 October 1942; buried at Karrakatta Cemetery in Perth, Western Australia (Presbyterian, GA, 155) ^[2]
