"FROST-BARKER - The engagement is announced of Mavis A., the only daughter of Mr and Mrs G.T. Frost of Alford, to Maxwell J., only son of Mr and Mrs J. Barker of Clara street, Wallaroo."

Marriage - Barker-Frost
"The marriage of Mavis A., only daughter of Mr and Mrs G.T. Frost, Alford, to Maxwell J., only son of Mr and the late Mrs John Barker, Wallaroo, was solemnised at the Alford Methodist Church on Saturday, January 29. The Rev. L.R. Barker officiated, and Miss Edith Philbey was the organist. The church was beautifully decorated by girl friends of the bride. The bride, who entered the church with her father, wore a frock of white crinkle sheer georgette over satin mad with a cowl neck and sleeves. The skirt shirred at the back, merged into a long fish tail train. Her embroidered veil (lent by a friend, Mrs W. Petherick) was held in place with a spray of orange blossom. She carried a sheaf of white gladioli and fern. The bridesmaid, Miss Mabel Helps (cousin of the bride) wore a frock of apple green georgette over satin, made with a full flared skirt and short puff sleeves, She wore a halo of pink flowers, and carried a sheaf of pink gladioli and fern. The bride’s brother (Mr Lyndsay Frost) was best man. During the signing of the register Miss Madge Richardson sang a solo. As the bride left the church a lucky horseshoe was hung on her arm by Mrs Alan Frost of Adelaide. The reception was held in Alford hall, at which about 200 guests were present. After the breakfast the evening was spent with items and in dancing, Mr P. Lower being the M.C. The bride’s mother was frocked in navy oatmeal crepe, with navy accessories. The bridegroom’s sister (Mrs C. Janz) wore a navy floral frock with a navy coat and hat to tone. The bride’s travelling frock was a blue aurora crepe with a fawn coat and hat and fawn accessories. The future home of Mr and Mrs Barker will be at Carnamah, West Australia."
