"There are 45 members in the Yandanooka sub-branch of the R.S.L., the president of which is Mr J. A. Brown, the secretary being Mr G. H. Jones. Born in Scotland, Mr Brown arrived in the State in 1912, and three years later left with the 10th Light Horse for Egypt, returning in 1919 with his commission. He has 800 acres in his block, and this year cropped 270 acres of fallowed land, from which he anticipated an average of 23 bushels an acre. Mr Brown fallows a two-year rotation, and would like to extend it, but finds the area of his block a problem. It is carrying 750 Koonoona blood sheep and lambs, and is worked to capacity. Mr Brown is a member of the selection committee for the district wheat yield competition shield, and is the secretary of the North Midlands Cricket Association. He has been at Yandanooka since 1922."
