In 1930 he was living in the garage of a house rented by Robert F. BICKERDIKE in Caron Street, Carnamah [4: 31-May-1930]
On the morning of Monday 16 May 1930 the laundry, garage and a portion of the house was destroyed by fire [4]
The fire was believed to have started from the copper in the laundry, which adjoined the garage in which he lived [4]
The house was saved by a willing band of helpers however the garage was already lost by the time help had arrived [4]
He lost the entire of his household and personal effects and all of his carpentry tools in the fire [4: 7-Jun-1930]
A number of Carnamah citizens arranged a Benefit Concert which raised £11/9/- to buy him new tools [4: 7-Jun-1930]
He placed a thank you notice in The Irwin Index newspaper thanking all of the patrons of the Benefit Concert [4: 7-Jun-1930]
In the notice he especially thanks George F. BROWN, Neil M. GRAHAM, Geoffrey K. RYDER and Normal W. REYNOLDS [4]
In 1935 his wife Matilda was living at 254 Saint George's Terrace in Perth and he was living in Moora [39: 14-Aug-1935]
