Wedding - Ransom – Bingham
"A charming wedding was seen at St. Mary’s Church, Colin Street, last evening, when Miss Ivy Bingham, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs F. Bingham, of Coorow, was married to Mr John Ransom, of the Bank of Australasia, Perth, son of Mr and Mrs G. Ransom. Archdeacon Riley performed the ceremony.
The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a beautiful frock of glace satin, in a phantom opalescent shade. It was fashioned with a high neck finished with a roll collar, the front of the bodice being softly gathered into a rounded uplift waistline, The close fitting skirt extended into a long train, on which rested a circlet of orange blossom tinted to match the frock. Buttons adorned the back of the bodice and appeared on the long sleeves. A Tudor bonnet of hair braid held the cape like veil which fell to hip length. She wore her mother’s opal and diamond bracelet, and carried lei of Cecil Brunner roses in place of the usual bouquet.
Her bridesmaid was Miss Evelyn Bingham, who wore an attractive frock of Marina green Roubaix, with long sleeved crossover bodice, which encircled the waist and tied to fall in long sash ends. She wore a hat which had a gold sequinned crown, and a halo brim of hair braid, and carried a bouquet of gold flowers with gold berries. Mr Alan Wormald was best man.
After the ceremony a reception was held at the Savoy Hotel where Mrs Bingham, assisted by Mrs Ransom, received the guests. Mrs Bingham wore a smart frock of ice blue, cloque with matching hat and carried a bouquet of violets, Mrs Ransom choosing black georgette with diamante buttons and buckle and a fur coat. Her bouquet was of cloth of gold roses.
When the usual toasts had been honoured and good wishes of their friends expressed the bride and groom left for their honeymoon. The bride chose a travelling frock of Marina green diagonally pintucked, over which was worn a tailored coat in good earth tonings, hat to match and brown accessories.
Among the guests present were Mesdames Peterkin, F. Cox, E. Bestwick, M. Jones, J. Smith, Levitzke and Guy Greenwood, Mr and Mrs E. Bradley, Mr and Mrs P. T. Morcombe, Mr and Mrs W.S.
