Said to have been an able sportsmen as a child who you couldn't bowl out in cricket [P27]
After falling over at school and badly damaging his knee he was sent to Perth and returned with a metal thing on his leg [P27]
He could walk if the ground was flat so to assist some of his schoolmates used to push him to school in a cart [P27]
After returning to Perth and having the brace removed he could walk normally again and became a very good footballer [P27]
