He was a permanent way hand on the Midland Railway's Three Springs gang [323: 29-Jul-1903]
Within his camp he kept a large quantity of brush and firewood and early one morning it caught alight while he was sleeping [323]
One of his co-workers, whose camp was nearby, woke to a strange noise at 3:30am to find his camp engulfed in flames and smoke [323]
Once the flames were extinguished his charred and unrecognisable body was found at the door to his camp [323]
It was believed he'd woken in a suffocated state, rushed to the door and fallen backwards as the fire was strongest at the door [323]
Died 27 July 1903 in Three Springs [323: 29-Jul-1903]
An inquest in Mingenew found that his death was from being accidentally burnt and that the fire was from his own negligence [323]
