His brother "Bill" William Robert NELSON worked as a farmhand in Coorow ^[P501]
He himself worked from time to time around Coorow and also came back for football matches ^[P501]

     Kicked one of the two goals scored by Coorow against Three Springs' 25 goals on 1 May 1949 ^{[5: 5-May-1949]}
     Kicked a goal and was one of the team's best players in its win against Carnamah on 3 July 1949 ^{[5: 7-Jul-1949]}
    He was chosen in North Midlands 'B' team to play the Perenjori Football Association on 17 July 1949 ^{[5: 14-Jul-1949]}
    Kicked one goal and was one of his team's best players in their loss against Carnamah on 24 July 1949 ^{[5: 28-Jul-1949]}
    Kicked one goal in win against Carnamah on 28 August 1949 ^{[5: 1-Sep-1949]}
