"When I lived in Perth 1977 to 1980, Cyril, a radio amateur with the callsign VK6CR, was the convenor of the Slow Morse Group - a number of amateurs who took it in turns to broadcast morse code at various speeds to help would be amateurs obtain their licences. I remember Cyril as a gentleman, who was always willing to give a new ham his help and advice. He was voted Amateur of the Year in 1979."
