Obituary - The Late Mrs. L. A. J. Gersch of Carnamah
"Approximately 160 relatives and friends attended the Three Springs Cemetery on Sunday morning last to pay their last respects to the memory of the late Mrs. Louise Auguste Johanna Gersch, who passed away at Three Springs District Hospital on Saturday, March 22, after a brief illness. Deceased, who was 60 years of age, was prior to her marriage Miss Handtke, and was born at South Kilkerran, South Australia. Together with her husband and family, she came to Western Australia 15 years ago, and they settled in the Carnamah Road Board district as farmers. Deceased had gained the highest respect and esteem of the whole of the community and her untimely death is a sad loss to the district. She is survived by a sorrowing husband, Heinrich Ernest Gersch, sons Laurence, Albert and Edgar, daughter Gladys (Mrs. E. Griffith, Winchester) and Rita (Mrs. Robert Sheppard, Dudawa). The Rev. Ross officiated at the graveside. The pallbearers were Messrs. Arnold Bierman, E. K. Wells, J. Ovenden, R. Power, B. W. Gallahawk, R. Niven. G. B. Raffan and H. Fowler. A touching feature of the ceremony was the burying with the deceased of the bridal bouquet of her younger daughter, Rita, who was married at Carnamah on Tuesday, March 19."
