Along with his wife and children he appears to have left Victoria and shifted to Western Australia in the mid 1890s [15] [54]
From as early as 1903 and until at least 1916 he worked as a Contractor and resided on Knebworth Avenue in Perth [50]
In 1917 he was living in North Perth [2] and was an employee of Malloch Bros in Perth [10]
He was in Carnamah on 20 December 1917 to erect a windmill for the Midland Railway Company at the 174½ mile railway siding [10]
While travelling on a railway tricycle with a local fettler a special goods train approached and ran down the tricycle they were on [10]
The train was travelling at about 15 miles per hour and had not been able to stop in time, and he was killed almost instantly [10]

Died 20 December 1917 in Carnamah; buried Karrakatta Cemetery, Perth WA (Seventh Day Adventist, AA, 5) [2] [10]
An inquest into his death was finalised at the Moora Court House in Moora on Tuesday 8 April 1918 [10: 21-Dec-1917, 11-Jan-1918]
The inquest concluded that his death was accidental, but that it could have been avoided had the train's driver been warned [10]
